My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a boy whose love is “as boundless as the sea” – Romeo is for you! Living up to his Shakespearean counterpart, he is loyal and loves unconditionally, though he might be a little mysterious and shy at the beginning. Romeo is a 4-year-old Standard Poodle, who needs to add a few pounds to his current 42. He is fully house-trained and already knows how to sit on command (he will gladly show you if you offer him a treat!). He does very well on a leash and enjoys walks, just keep in mind he's a big boy who needs a steady hand.

Romeo likes best to be near people, preferring to lounge on a dog bed or the couch, although he is crate-trained and will sleep in a crate. With his dashing smile, he will seek your attention by putting his nose under your arm. Both the kennel staff and his foster family found he likes to play fetch. He can become bouncy and exuberant when excited – and given his size (he’s a tall boy) – he will do best in a home with children over 12.

Romeo will require slow introductions with other animals in the house. His ideal environment may be in a home where he is the only pet, as he is learning to socialize with other dogs. He loves to sit and look out a window, staring quietly and rarely barking.

If you’re looking for a companion who with both a pep in his step and who will nap at your feet, Romeo is the perfect match! Minimum adoption fee is $350 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
