Pippin was a male tom cat that was allowed to roam and fight. He wasn't neutered. So he was finally taken off the streets and neutered. He has on old injury to one ear which gives it a cockeyed appearance. But he also has another souvenir from his fighting days...FIV. Pippin is FIV positive. Now, this is not a death sentence, but he must be kept indoors. His immune system is weakened from this disease, which makes these cats more prone to diseases. Keeping him indoors prevents most health events. He can live a long and healthy life indoors.
FIV is not human contagious, nor is it easily spread thru casual contact with other cats. It is only transmitted thru deep bites. Cats can share water, food, and litter boxes without passing it to healthy cats. Cats that are not fighting will not spread it.
