My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Piper is ready to find her home. She’s a healthy 7 y/o, 17-pound girl who is spayed, housebroken and UTD on vaccines. Piper happens to be deaf and takes Prozac daily, but that doesn’t stop her from being a sweet and playful little girl. When she arrived, she was very fearful and it took a while for her to warm up, but once she’s comfortable she will follow you around and jump up gently for pets. She can be a velcro dog and loves to snuggle up on the couch. Since Piper is an alpha and territorial around other dogs, she would be best as the only dog in an adult household. She is good around cats; curious and brought one a toy to try and play. Piper feels safe in her crate and uses it as “her space” when she’s had enough family time and prefers her open crate as her nightly place to sleep. She is good with older children and since she cannot hear, a fenced yard is required,

Requirements:

Must have fence
Child free or older children only
Adopter must be a strong leader to guide Piper since she is an alpha dog
Should be the only dog or have adopters willing to take the time to slowly and properly introduce her to people and other pets
Cats ok

Piper is fostered in Norfolk, VA. If you feel you are the right family for Piper and meet these requirements, please email odbtr1@gmail.com or bostonlover02@comcast.net to request a Word or PDF format application.

Email and phone interviews

3.

Approve Application

Before approval, we check personal and veterinary references. We discuss any changes we'd like to see in your care plan.

4.

Home Check

Preferably the home visit is done by the dogs foster. If that won't work, one of our volunteers will visit.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

Once we have agreed on the ideal match our contract is signed and the adoption fee is paid.

6.

Take the Pet Home

Unless the dogs foster does the home check, if they do you may complete the adoption that day.

Additional adoption info

Our fees vary depending on the dog. Age, health and behavior issues determine the fee for each dog. Our youngest and healthiest Boston's help pay the way for our seniors and special needs Boston's. Our highest fee is $650 and the lowest is $0. When a dog has full sponsorship there our adoption fee is waived.

More about this rescue

We are a small foster based rescue covering VA, Northeastern NC, MD,DE and DC. We are a dedicated group of Boston lovers. Our main goal is to save as many Boston Terriers from shelters and owners who can no longer care for their Boston's. We will help any Boston Terrier, any age, health issue and behavior issue that needs us. We do have limits. We can only take dogs when we have space. Sometimes that means owner surrenders have to wait for a space to open before we can take their dog. We also take other breeds when we have room. We are as holistic as possible in our care of Boston's combining traditional veterinary care and holistic philosophies. We are always looking for volunteers.
