Meet Blondie, a lively and friendly puppy with an insatiable curiosity. Her energy is contagious, her playfulness endearing. She's the perfect companion for games of fetch in the park or cuddles on the couch. She loves sitting on a lap and being petted. She weighs 24 pounds and enjoys tugging, toys, and chase. Not one to shy away from making friends, Blondie is sociable with other dogs, cats, and especially children. Her excitable nature may have her jumping for joy at the sight of her favorite toy or a new friend. She is friendly and playful with one and all but also a little rough with dogs and a little cautious around cats. She'll need help with leash walking and house training because both are new to her. Despite her youthful enthusiasm, Blondie has a gentle side that loves quiet moments of affection. Adopt Blondie and bring home not just a pet, but a bundle of joy and a forever friend. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Special Discounts

Military Families - 50% of adoption fees waived for military personnel and veterans. (proof of eligibility required)
Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
