My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My heart melts for this one.  No dog should be so scared of humans at 9 months of age.  Someone has done her wrong.   But she can get past this and will blossom in a loving home!  Do you have enough in your heart to allow this girl to come out of her shell and blossom?

Meet Marie Curie: A Beautiful Soul Seeking Patience and Love

Looking for a loving and patient forever home, Marie Curie is a stunning black Lab mix ready to blossom!

About Marie:
Beautiful, lanky black Lab mix weighing around 38 lbs
Shy and timid around people, possibly due to past neglect
Making incredible progress! She's gaining trust daily and enjoys head rubs (on her terms!)
Clean and crate-trained: She's working hard on potty training too!
Social Butterfly with Dogs: Marie loves playing with her foster siblings and is submissive with other pups.
Ignores the resident cat (so far!): Could be a good fit in a multi-pet home with the right introductions.
Needs a fenced yard: Leash training is a work in progress, and a safe space is key.
Benefits from basic training: This will help Marie build confidence and become the amazing dog she's meant to be!

Are you the patient and loving adopter Marie needs?

She deserves a chance to learn what it means to be loved and cared for. With time and patience, Marie will blossom into the best version of herself!

Additional adoption info

You are required to sign a legally binding contact on your new pet. As part of that contract, should you no longer be able to keep the animal for any reason, the animal MUST be surrendered back to SAAP. This is to ensure the animal is placed back in foster care while we secure a new approved home for the animal. However, we always try to ensure that the initial placement is best for the pet and your family. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of animals that are in need of a forever home. Our animals are fostered in homes where we provide love, food, medical care and socialization until adoption into a new loving home. We educate on the importance of spaying and neutering of all pets.

We ensure all animals have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are micro-chipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm and anti-flea medications (as age appropriate). They are ready and waiting to start their new life with their fur-ever family. Could that be you?

We need your help to continue our mission. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donation will go towards the rescue, care, and medical needs of the animals.

If you need info on a cat or kitten please contact 859-391-2944
