A big hello to Nico!
Nico is one of those joyous pups whose happy nature does not hint at his rough, sad past. It's as if he knows he's in exceptional care now and is expressing his gratitude in his own sweet way.
Nico was rescued from a woman who called herself a "rescuer", but did nothing to really care for him and subjected him to violence in the form of beatings from her drug-addicted son. They were not feeding Nico and his weight had dropped to a dangerous low of 6 kg. Miracously, our trusted rescue partners were made aware and intervened. Nico was taken into their care and received immediate Vet intervention. After several days under the care of the Vet, Nicco was able to join them at the shelter. He is now a healthy 12 kg! Double the emaciated state he was found in.
Dogs are so resilient and so forgiving, Nico does not harbour any fear or resentment at all. Just gratitude. His heart is still open to give and receive love and affection and he spreads that around very generously!
Healthy and happy, well adjusted and a pleasure to everyone who meets him. He enjoys all his friends at the shelter, including little humans! Great with kids, very social and he's got some skills to show off! He's already great on a leash and enjoys his walks. He's got some favourite toys too and loves to engage in play and doggie games! This guy cannot contain his enthusiasm for people, he'll be sure to get your attention with his charming barks as if to say "Hey, here I am and I'm so happy to see you!".
All dogs deserve better than Nico experienced, but Nico especially would leap for joy if he were to find someone to love and adopt him as their very own. With no lingering hints at his unspeakable past, he's ready to forge a future! Will you give him that chance?
