My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Lacy is estimated to be 6 ½ years old and is spayed 31-pound female. Lacy had a very loved and cherished home with her owner for all her life. Unfortunately, he died so she needs a new home.

She likes to follow people around the house and is content to lay next to them, but if they get up to walk around, she is right there with them. Or if the person relocated too fast for her to notice, she explores each room looking for where she went. She will go from dog bed to sofa throughout the house to be closest to a human that is there.

Lacy is extremely intelligent and learned where everything is in the foster house after only a couple of days. When the foster mother works from home Lacy positions herself on the sofa near the computer desk settling in for a nap or to just watch her. Lacy is a good co-worker who will sleep during online meetings then be energetic during the lunch break.

She craves attention, closeness, and companionship. Her favorite activity is watching people. She wants to know what everyone in the house is doing and if she needs to be part of this action. Lacy loves to be petted, and the fosters found the favorite spot is a belly rub. She is an “everyone” type of dog equally compatible with and equally loving all members of her foster family. On football days you will find Lacy cuddled up next to her foster dad watching all the games (she is happy that a human stays still for that long!).

When someone comes inside the house, he/she receives a huge greeting from Lacy. Normally her tail wags frequently, but the excitement shown when she realizes a person has not been seen for a while causes her tail to wag faster than ever. And if someone new comes to visit or is encountered on a walk, since Lacy is so friendly, she greets him/her as if the person is there specifically for her.

The foster family discovered Lacy loves walking and wags her tail while on one. She gets so excited when her leash is being picked up (even simply to put it away) she runs to the front door. During the walk she is steady pleasant walker and can walk for a long time and multiple times a day.

Lacy loves exploring and running in the foster family’s backyard. She has a lot of energy and entertains herself then comes in through the doggie door wanting to know what she missed inside the house. When she wants to go out she taps on the door with her paw and then when she comes back in she taps again.

She would be fine as an only dog or living with existing dog(s). Lacy is fine with either situation.

The average lifespan for this breed is 14 years. Therefore, Lacy’s adopter will need to be prepared to care for her for around 8 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again.

Lacy’s adoption fee is $400. This dog comes microchipped, spayed, and up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots. She is currently being fostered in the Plant City, FL area.
