My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Queenie was brought in by her previous owner on September 13, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Queenie, a true feline monarch seeking a court that understands her regal ways. As a proud member of the "No Cats Allowed" club, she prefers to be the sole ruler of her castle, reigning without the interference of other cats. While Queenie won't be caught lounging in your arms, she'll be more than happy to sit by your side, offering her royal presence as you go about your day. She even enjoys being read to - the perfect audience for your most dramatic bedtime stories or historical novels. Queenie might not be the type to knock your valuables off the shelf (far too dignified for that), but she does enjoy keeping all four paws firmly on the ground. However, when it's time to play, she's all about that wand toy - dangle it just right, and you'll catch a glimpse of her playful side, though always on her terms. Being a Persian, Queenie requires some royal grooming: daily brushing to keep her luxurious coat flawless, plus a bit of TLC for her ears and eyes. If you're willing to cater to her beauty regimen, you'll have a sophisticated companion. Oh, and when you're ready to take Queenie home, don't forget to bring a large top-loading cat carrier - no queen likes to be stuffed into a tiny chariot!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
