My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A LOVABLE & FUN PUPPY:  Approx. 5 - 6 months old / Approx. 32 lbs. & growing

Hi, my name is Eliza!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  I recently enjoyed time in a short break foster home, and now I’m back at the MM shelter loving the good care I am getting there.  I can’t wait to meet my new family!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did great with the dogs that lived in my short break foster home.  I understand the ‘chain of command’, as the 60-pound husky was the alpha and I was fine with that.  I also met dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, so if you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / While in my short break foster home, I met the neighbor kids, ages 10 & 12.  Initially, I barked and backed up.   But … once they got down on my level, I slowly moved towards them to smell and kiss their hands.  So, if you have kids around this age, let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a ‘sweet, curious, friendly and very smart’ puppy who has ‘big paws and a big heart’.  I’m super happy, eager to please and ready to learn all the things that will help me grow into a great adult dog.  My short break foster noted that I am alert and engaged and will be a good watch dog.  A very observant girl, I will bark when I’m unsure of a person or sound.  I’m playful and fun – a perfect addition to a lucky family! / My energy level is 5-7.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  In my short break foster home, I showed what a smart girl I was by learning some commands: ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘down’ and ‘crate’ and I was working on the ‘off’ command since I took interest in what may be on the counters and jumped up on people a bit – hey – I’m a puppy and it’s what we do, until we learn not to.  Now I’m a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I’ll be continuing to learn even more great doggie commands with my trainer, as well as working on curbing my mouthy leash chewing.  Check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners were good in my short break foster home as I slept in a crate at nighttime. / I’m still a puppy, but my potty habits are coming along. I knew to do my business outside while at the home I visited, but didn’t give any signals to alert that I needed to go, so there were some accidents.  I am on my way  and will need you to finish my potty training, so please keep me on a good schedule with positive reinforcement, so I can master my potty skills.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I enjoy the time I have spent with people and the other dogs I’ve met.  I also love belly rubs, stuffed toys, cuddling and attention. I’ll reward the attention with those great puppy kisses.  When it’s time to play, bring on the tennis ball and let’s have fun!  Also, you don’t have to call me twice for dinner – lol. / I didn’t  like being left alone in my short break foster home, so a stay/work-at-home family member would be good for me.  Otherwise, I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow.  I’m also micro-chipped and spayed.

If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse

Please visit our website, www.mostlymutts.org for additional information about adopting a new best friend!
