My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please contact Main Email CARE (caretoadopt@gmail.com), (803) 622-9813 for more information about this pet.
The most accurate and up to date information about adoptable pets is on our official website at www.caretoadopt.org.

Swiss Roll is a sweet girl who's looking to find a forever family either as a single bunny, or with her sister, or to bond with another rabbit.

Swiss Roll was bonded to her sister, Pound Cake, and they were adopted out together for 10 months. The family returned them due to being allergic to hay or rabbits (most likely hay). When these 2 sisters went back into foster care, they began to fight. This can happen with stress. They are fine together when supervised, but get into a tiff when unsupervised.

We are attempting to rebond them, but this could be sibling rivalry and they simply may never be good alone together again. For this reason, these girls are up for adoption separately or together if the adopter understands they may only be able to do supervised play dates.

If interested in adopting one or both, please contact us and/or email your application today!

Adoption Fee: $75.00

All rabbits receive an exam, dewormer, topical treatment for possible fleas, mites & heartworms, microchip, RHDV-2 vaccines, and are spayed/neutered through CARE. Each rabbit is fed high quality grass hays, fresh vegetables, high quality pellets, and some fruits.

All of these expenses, often over months, cost a lot more than the adoption fee. Many vets charge $120 to $700 for rabbit neuters/spays alone. We are nonprofit and have to make up some of the costs through adoption fees in addition to accepting donations and fundraising.

To learn about proper rabbit care and why bonded pairs are a great idea, please visit: www.rabbit.org

Breeds are always our 'best guess' based on experience, weight, vet sugestions, and other factors.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We adopt out of state at the adopter's expense. Please inquire about the process if you are out of state.

We require potential adopters to fill out an adoption application. Once we receive the application back we will check references (to be included in the application), a home visit will then be set up to see if the animal fits the family and the family fits the animal.

If the potential adopter is approved and all vet care has been finished on the pet, a non-refundable adoption fee is due via check, cash, Zelle or Paypal.

We will check back on you and your new pet in a few days, 1 month and at 3 months (if there is a need, to make sure the adjustment period is a success). Should the adoption not work out, we will always take the animal back as quick as we can. It is required they are ONLY returned to us. Our screening process is geared to hopefully avoid unecessary returns. Please keep this in mind when adopting - it is intended to be a LONG TERM COMMITMENT.

Please ask the foster parent what the adoption fee is as some vary.

All animals come with the following (what the fee includes):

Exam, vaccines, dewormings, microchip, heartworm test (dogs) or FELV/FIV test (cats/kittens), and spay or neuter.

We foster pets in our own homes. We will be happy to show them to you by appointment. Please call or email to arrange. Our foster homes are in and around Lexington, SC (mainly). Out of state adoptions are ok, but same adoption procedures apply.

WHY RESCUE?

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter…the cast-offs of human society.

I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal.

And I was angry.

“God,” I said, “this is terrible! Why don’t you do something?”

God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly.

“I have done something," He replied. “I created you.”
