My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Scruff. Or Scruff McGruff and I'm all about seamless transitions. I'm about 9 years old but you wouldn't know it because of the pep in my step! I'm an easy going guy who picks up on vibes quick and I'll fit in perfectly in a house with other dogs. In fact, you'll think I've always been there. I learned my foster parent's dog door in one day one, and I'm crate and potty trained. I will quickly find where my place is on the couch or in your lap, the best places to pee in the yard, and how much space to give other pets in the home. I love to rough house with my puppy foster sister but can read the room and am giving the older dogs in my foster home the space they prefer. I'm pretty chill, I like to snuggle, and I like to go with the flow, so I'll do well in just about any home, but I'd prefer it to be yours.

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
