My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Savannah is a beautiful red mixed-breed dog whose estimated DOB is 12/21/2023 and on 11/15/2024 she weighed in at 49 pounds. She was brought to us after being found as a stray with a fractured femur. She has since had surgery and made a full recovery. Due to the type of fracture, her leg is now just a bit shorter than the others, so she walks with a slight limp. It doesn't slow her down, she loves pushing a big ball all around the yard as fast as she can! She is the friendliest pup you will ever meet and would love to spend all of her time with her human (except for when she's playing with her ball, of course)! Savannah is as sweet as peach pie and loves pets and tummy rubs!
Come meet Savannah today and see how delightful she is!

Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. Every pet available for adoption is current on shots spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
