Double Adoption with Baxter, #H212579. Virginia and Baxter survived being born outdoors, but needed human guidance to understand the new world they were facing together upon being rescued. Fortunately for this delightful sibling set, a wonderful foster home was found for them. In a cozy setting, they gradually learned to think of humans as playful treat dispensers which helped them shed any preconceptions about human touch. Now facing a bright future together in Bianca’s Furry Friends, they’ve brought with them all the lessons from that first home, and are hopeful they’ll find a purrament one to collect more happy experiences, one with older kids able to guide them. You can expect Virginia to tuck herself into a cozy spot to feel safe, but it doesn’t take her long to follow her curious brother’s lead and check out the latest toy—especially with treat incentives!

When you come down to NSALA an associate will help you figure out what kind of animal will do best in your situation. At that point they will take out the animals you are interested in so that you may get to know them. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family friendly areas designated for that purpose. When you decide you want to adopt, an associate will help you fill out an application.

Our adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies (up to 6 months) $350
Adult Dogs (over 6 months) $100
Puppy Mill Rescues $250
Small Breed & Pure Breeds (over 6 months) $250
Kittens (up to 6 months) $100
Double Kittens $150
Adult Cats (over 6 months) $50
Double Adult Cats $75

Where applicable, a $50 Spay/Neuter deposit is required for kittens, $75 for puppies.

Our Adoption Center, is open every Thursday-Sunday 12pm-8pm. On average, our shelter is home to 350 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. Behind the scenes, the Adoption Center contains a nursery area, medical examination room and a grooming area where new admissions are health checked, vaccinated, bathed and groomed.

Visitors are reminded that adoption is a lifelong commitment. After selecting a pet, each potential adopter is thoroughly screened, ensuring each adopter recognizes the life-changing commitment a new pet can be. To date, over 1,000,000 pet owners have met our high standards and adopted a pet from North Shore Animal League America.
