Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ranger is between one and two years old and weighs 40 pounds. He was brought to the shelter after he was picked up in Comal County by an animal control officer as a stray. When Ranger arrived at the shelter he was scanned for a microchip, and he had one! That was a hopeful sign that this beautiful, friendly guy could be reunited with a grateful owner. Unfortunately, this was not to be as the contact person from the microchip said that they had given him to someone else, whose contact information they didn't have. In other words, poor Ranger had at one time been adopted and then abandoned or lost for reasons that will forever remain a mystery, given what a fantastic dog he really is.
It's sad that he ended up on the streets because he is a wonderful dog...one of the easiest to care for we've ever had. Not a single "accident" in our house...nothing chewed on other than the toys and treats we give him. He gets along fine with our cats and other dogs. He is truly a gentle soul. He's been very friendly with everyone he's met and the most common reaction we get is about how beautiful he is.
Ranger tested positive for heart worms and needed the treatment to cure him of that disease. Ranger quickly stole the hearts of the wonderful staff at the Humane Society, and they stepped up to get this wonderful dog the treatment he needed in a foster home. The major part of his treatment is now complete, and he came through it with flying colors. Now, he is available for a permanent home in a "foster to adopt" status until his final heartworm test in February.
Don't pass up the opportunity to meet this fantastic dog.!
I am currently in a foster home and not at HSNBA, if you are interested in meeting me, please contact the nice folks at HSNBA so they can put you in contact with my foster family to set up a meet & greet. E-mail HSNBA at adoption@hsnba.org, call us at: (830) 629-5287 or stop by and speak with the folks at HSNBA at 3353 Morningside Dr. to get your information sent over to my foster home. My foster family is the best and can give you more information on me.
