My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Miss Kitty. She is a high spirited girl looking for her forever home. Here is some information we have learned about Miss Kitty:
Ms. Kitty entered care in August 2024 with many other cats from the same household. While entering care, Ms. Kitty displayed fearful behavior and protective equipment was used to facilitate intake treatments. While in care, Ms. Kitty's appetite was initially intermittent, improved to normal, dipped some after a housing change, and is now improving again. Ms. Kitty has displayed fearful behavior while in care as well as some positive indicators; with the support of a housing change, Ms. Kitty is now spending most of her time outside of her hiding space (feral den).

Dogs:
No known history.

Cats:
No history while in care. While in former home, Ms. Kitty lived with many other cats.

Kids:
Due to fearful behavior, it is required that Ms Kitty is adopted into a home without children under the age of 10 living in or frequently visiting the household. All children in the household should be able to understand and adhere to consent petting.

Behavior consult:
Behavior consultation for fearful behavior required, may be scheduled pre or post.

Additional information:
Ms. Kitty will benefit from a quiet household and will likely require a prolonged acclimation period and an adopter who is willing and able to give Ms. Kitty ample time and space.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
