My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kodiak here to tell you the story of how Moonsong was lucky enough to bring me into rescue. I was picked up as a stray in eastern Idaho and the shelter employees loved me but during my month at the shelter, when people came to find their fur friend, no one paid any attention to me and the clock was ticking, so the shelter reach out to Moonsong and here I am! Boy are they lucky to have me!

I am a playful young male that gets along with all dogs! Yes, you read that right. I’ve never met a stranger and quickly learn to adapt to fur friends (with a little guidance).

My foster mom says, I’m a gentle boy, that loves pets and snuggling; attention is my favorite thing! I might try to push my fur friends out of the way to get all the attention. Like most huskies, I know how to use my words (yah, I’m a vocal husky). I’m very playful and would love a home with a similar sized friend or I would be okay being an only dog. I do well in my crate, am potty trained, don’t jump on people and have been around kids 8 years and older and LOVED them! Other things I like, being brushed and helping fill water bowls! I’m working on my leash skills and basic obedience. I love treats and pets for my rewards, so training is a breeze!

More about this rescue

We're glad you stopped by to check out our Mallies in need of their "furever" homes! We are federally recognized non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to assisting Alaskan Malamutes and their owners when in crisis throughout the Intermountain West. Please be aware that Moonsong Malamute Rescue (MMR) is not a shelter or humane society. We are affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL), which is the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate to AMAL, MMR operates under AMAL's code of ethics.

We offer educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, are able to help an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and provide behavioral issues support in the form of referrals to trainers and other more experienced Malamute owners. These funds are also used to help care for Malamutes with adoptable personalities who have been pulled from shelters, or who have been seized by authorities after having been abandoned, neglected, or abused.
