My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hannah is an adult female who came to the shelter on 9/11, and immediately began impressing staff and volunteers with her bombastic and adorable personality! Though a bit itchy and in need of a new skincare routine, Hannah can't wait to get ALL the scritches and pets from her new forever family.

BEHAVIOR EVALUATION (9/13)

KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray - found in an alleyway

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Hannah was sitting on her bed when I approached, and came running to the door with soft eyes and a wagging tail when she saw me. SHe hopped up on the door and sniffed curiously, but got down when I opened it. She was patient for leashing and came right out once secured!

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally

HANDLING:
WHen we got out to the yard Hannah was curious and sniffed around the yard for a few minutes. Once she got a lay of the land she climbed up on the bench next to me and began soliciting attention. She leaned her chest into my shoulder and kissed at my face, very sweetly asking for attention. Hannah allowed all handling right away, and even let me touch and handle areas with open wounds and itchy, painful skin. She was just happy to have hands and attention on her! Hannah took treats gently and showed me that she knows "sit. She was very affectionate, and continuously sought out pets and affection. She's a big cuddle bug! Hannah showed some interest in toys, but was more interested in just being near the handler and getting pets. Overall, Hannah is a super friendly and affectionate girl that doesn't let her medical issues get in the way of her being a very good girl!

PLAY
Followed me around when I ran, but cowered away from big movements. She mostly just wanted to be near me to get affection, rather than play.

TOYS:
Some interest but no possession. She would sniff at toys in my hand and follow them to sniff more when I threw them, but never took possession of a toy.

Per Volunteer on 9/19: What a perfect girl! She is super affectionate, happy, loves to play - and also know when to stop! She knows sit but takes a few prompts to occur sometimes, very gentle with treats and waits. Jumps a little but mostly just to get closer to you with pets! With practice she can definitely continue to learn boundaries. Her skin is very dry, but with the correct attention and treatment she will have a wonderful coat! She was easy to come out and go back inside her kennel, didn't really pull on the leash - more so excited to leave her kennel! She also had a great meet through the fence with Chase the Man, they both wanted to play! Happy Hannah!!

Per staff on 9/11: Dog appears very social allowed me to leash immediately and soliciting attention. Caller Stated to be good with cats and with children. ... Dog appeared to have swollen paws and possible skin issue on the nose

Medical notes:

During an intake exam on 9/12, staff found Hannah in good general health besides apparent skin issues. They found her friendly, but intolerant of handling around the mouth.
