My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

REMI (11 mos old) ❤️❤️

Remi, also lovingly called ‘Pancake’ or ‘Fish’… is as submissive to people as they come. Which is heart-meltingly sweet, yet so sad, especially for appearing to be a full on Maligator (Belgian Malinois). When you meet Remi, she is SO Excited to get loves from a new person, she will just “pancake” to the floor and hop/flop like a “fish” over to you and just turn into a puddle of love on your feet begging for pets and belly rubs.

Since in foster, Remi’s confidence is gaining! With doing some basic training for her kibbles during mealtime, Remi is showing off her skills with the commands Sit, Lay Down, Right (spin), Leave It, Up-Up (for a hug), and Eyes (eye contact). She does have some good food drive to work with and so very eager to please! She is still learning what toys are all about, but slowly but surely catching on the joys of fetch and learning from the resident mals how fun it is to tear up a stuffy.

Like a true Maligator, Remi does indeed love her adventure time! She is working on her recall skills vs romping around with the rest of the pack on her long lead. But, she also hasn’t ever attempted to dart off either. On a normal leash walk, once she gets past her initial over-excitement of adventure time, she walks like a complete gem! She sticks by your side naturally (as she’s still looking to her handler for confidence) and listens well to keep moving along when you think she’s sniffed that tree, rock, or flower long enough, ha.

BUT, what’s Extra Unique about Remi the Mali??? She is the gentlest giant mal you’ll meet that nearly enjoys her off-switch more than “being on”! She is the absolute most content when she gets to snuggle in with you for a midday snooze. The way she sleeps so soundly next to you, it’s almost as if she’s never been able to sleep without a worry before… But what if you can’t keep up with her snuggling desires? That’s ok, she’s nearly just as content snuggling into cuddle time with another fur-sibling. ❤

Remi has done great with the fur-residents in her foster home (another female Belgian Malinois, a male Dutch Shepherd, a female black lab mix tripod, and a dog-savvy cat). And if you need a further testament to Remi’s chill-er temperament for a maligator, her best friend in the home is the black lab mix tripod!
So, is your current doggo ready for a play and snuggle mate? Are you ready for an adventure partner? Are you eager to continue to help re-build confidence over time and have fun teaching her all the cool tricks to keep her mentally stimulated? Well, don’t miss out on sweet Remi girl, apply to adopt her today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our animals are kept in foster care until we find them the best forever home. All prespective adopters fill out our interest form and have a home check as well as a meet and greet with the animal they are considering adopting. A small adoption fee is asked for depending on the animal and it's age etc. An adoption contract is signed by both parties and if there is any issue with the animal after adoption the adopter agrees to return the animal to us.

More about this rescue

Our dream at Vegas Pet Rescue Project is to positively impact the Las Vegas homeless, abused and abandoned pets that overwhelm our shelter system by giving them a new lease on LIFE. Our primary focus will be to assist the local animal shelters (Animal Foundation and Henderson Shelter) with the pets who have been given limited time to be adopted before they are removed from the shelter system due to a multitude of reasons. We will accomplish this goal through our extensive network of foster families, donations, and sponsors. We would also like to help finance spay and neuter programs to help low income families be responsible pet owners and decrease the overpopulation issues we face in Vegas. We also feel it important to collect pet supplies and food for local rescues and the city’s Good Samaritans who foster rescue pets and take in strays. Eventually we would love to help create a volunteer based program to investigate and bring down illegal breeding. We have been helping the pet rescue effort in the city for 3 years now and feel like we are just getting started.
