My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Elsie, a true Texas sweetheart with a heart full of love. Found as a stray puppy in a small rural town, Elsie has faced more than her fair share of hardships, from neglect and abuse to being attacked by an older dog. But through it all, she’s remained the kindest, gentlest girl you could ever meet.

Elsie waited in a Texas shelter for over a year. Now, she’s living her best (foster) life on a Wisconsin farm! She’s the ultimate farm girl—calm around horses, unbothered by chickens, cool with the cats, and perfect off-leash. Her foster mom says, “If I didn’t already have five dogs, she’d be staying!” Elsie is sweet, gentle, and ready for a family to call her own. Despite everything she’s been through, all Elsie wants is a cozy couch to cuddle on and a family to call her own.

✔️ Dog, cat, horse AND chicken approved!
✔️ Kid-friendly, an ideal family dog!
✔️ Very calm and submissive.
✔️ Loves to cuddle and snooze. 💤
✔️ Walks well on/ off leash!

FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping.

For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics.

To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.
