My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pootie: Queen of Lounging, Churu Enthusiast, and Professional Pillow Tester

Do you dream of a cat who will judge you from a distance while lounging like a fluffy potato on a pillow? Do you need a roommate who won’t hog the remote, but will silently supervise you from her cat tree throne? Then allow us to introduce Pootie — the shy, sassy, 2-year-old feline who has perfected the art of “look but don’t touch (yet).”

Pootie has been gracing our shelter with her majestic presence for 7 months now, during which time she has made exactly zero attempts to help with chores, but has greatly improved morale just by existing.

She’s a connoisseur of Churu tubes and insists you serve it to her directly from your finger, like the royal handmaiden you were born to be. Petting? Picking her up? How dare you even suggest such a thing. Pootie is a strong, independent cat who needs time to warm up—and by “time,” we mean she’ll let you know when she’s ready (maybe next week, maybe never, don’t rush greatness).

She’s a lover of other cats and would do well in a home with a feline friend or two to help show her that hoomans aren’t all terrifying. Her ideal home includes: pillows, cat trees, quiet vibes, and someone who respects personal space but doesn’t mind being silently adored from afar.

If you’re looking for a quirky, low-maintenance, and incredibly entertaining roommate who won’t try to share your snacks (just your Churu), Pootie is your girl.

Adopt her today and become part of the legend.More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

More about this shelter

Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
