The Tale of Lorne "Colonel Hummus, Marquess of Toronto and North York"

Dear reader, let me share with you the adventurous tale of a feline as brave as any pirate who ever sailed the seven seas. His name is Lorne, though those who know him best might call him Colonel Hummus, the Marquess of Toronto and North York. How did this one-eyed kitty earn such a grand title, you ask? Well, let me tell you the story of his life on the high seas, his mysterious past, and the curious origin of his second name.

A Mysterious Past and a Fearsome Beginning

No one quite knows where Lorne was born or how he lost one of his emerald eyes. Some say he was a ship's cat on a legendary pirate vessel, battling through storms and raids, always with his wits about him. Others whisper that he escaped a life of captivity in a land far across the ocean. What is certain, though, is that by the time he washed ashore in our land, he was a cat marked by both courage and caution.

When Lorne first arrived, he was a shadow of his current self. He was very scared, wary of any who approached him, and he always kept a safe distance, as though haunted by ghosts of his past. Some believe he was betrayed by a former crew, left adrift in the dark waters with only his instincts to guide him to safety. But that’s just speculation, of course. What matters is that Lorne eventually found himself a safe harbor, a home where patience and love awaited him.

Earning His Title: The Marquess of Toronto and North York

It took time, as all good things do, but slowly, Lorne began to let his guard down. His foster mom, seeing the nobility in his bearing, granted him the title of Marquess of Toronto and North York, in recognition of his hard-won courage and resilience. Under her care, Lorne discovered that not all humans were to be feared, and he began to show his true colours, those of a loyal companion and a true friend.

The title of "Marquess" was not given lightly. You see, Lorne had a special way of making any space he occupied feel like a kingdom. He would survey his domain with a noble air, his one green eye gleaming with the wisdom of a thousand adventures. Lorne has particular tastes, especially when it comes to his litter box habits. He prefers to have two separate litter boxes—small, uncovered, and placed side by side. One for peeing, one for pooping—it’s all part of his royal routine. While he may be trained to use just one in the future, starting with two ensures his comfort and helps him settle into his new home.

As for his meals, Lorne dines exclusively on soft food these days, a necessity since he’s lost all his teeth over the years. The life of a pirate can be rough, after all. His foster mom hasn’t attempted to offer him dry food, but his new captain might choose to test the waters and see if he takes to it. After all, even a seasoned marquess deserves a bit of variety in his royal feast.

A Loyal Heart, a Loving Companion

Despite his grand titles and adventurous past, Lorne is, at heart, a sweet and gentle soul. Once he trusts you, he will follow you everywhere, never leaving your side, his soft meow a reminder that even the fiercest pirate needs love and attention. He’s a fast learner, too, adapting quickly to his surroundings, though he still appreciates a patient hand to guide him.

Lorne prefers the quiet life now, far from the dangers of the high seas. He’s content to rule over a peaceful home, preferably without the ruckus of young children or other pets. He may not be keen on the company of other animals, but there’s a chance he could bond with a fellow feline friend if they share his calm demeanor.

The Hummus Incident

It’s said that one day, as Lorne was inspecting his new home, he stumbled upon a treasure unlike any other. It wasn’t gold or jewels, but a container of hummus, left unattended on the kitchen counter. Intrigued by the unfamiliar scent, Lorne did what any self-respecting pirate would do, he claimed it as his own.

When his foster mom came upon him, she found Lorne blissfully curled up next to the empty hummus container, his fur smudged with the tasty treasure. Though he hadn't eaten any, he was thoroughly covered in hummus, looking quite pleased with his find.
And so, from that day forward, he became known as Colonel Hummus, a name that blends the gravitas of his title with the charm of his playful, endearing nature.

A New Adventure Awaits

So, dear reader, if you’re seeking a companion with the heart of a pirate and the soul of a king, look no further than Lorne, the Marquess of Toronto and North York, also known as Colonel Hummus. He’s ready to embark on a new adventure with a loving family who will cherish him as he deserves. Offer him your heart, and he’ll reward you with endless loyalty and love, a treasure far greater than any found on the high seas.
