My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

RED along  with 3 other dogs (possibly siblings and son) came to    Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine  on Saturday, 7th September 2024 f rom a local breeder who was not able to find homes for them . We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We have had them fixed and vetted and they are now ready for their perfect forever homes and families.

RED is neutered, current on vaccines, rabies, monthly preventatives, de-wormed, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and microchipped. RED weighs 14.60 pounds and we were told he is around 3 years old. We believe him to be a Bichon / Yorkie mix.

RED is a sweet, affectionate boy who is desperate for love and affection. We do not think he is leash trained and although he uses the dog door to go out into the kennel run to do his business, we are not sure that he would know to let his family know he wants to go out - so expecting to work on this should be acceptable to interested families.

We are looking for a family that understands the need of this type of breeds grooming and how quickly matts can form if they are not brushed and trimmed on a regular basis and the additional cost of grooming along with providing good quality food, preventatives as and when needed and of course annual check ups and vet care as and when necessary should all be taken into account.

We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. He does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life.

RED has an adoption fee of $550

Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend.

Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.

More about this rescue

Founded by Jenny an English woman who found her way to Texas on 14th February 2011 in San Antonio, Texas we saved dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas.

In July 2015, Jenny relocated herself and the rescue to the beautiful state of Maine, it's weather and people much like that of her home in Northern England.

We still save dogs from the high kill shelters in Texas where dogs have just 3 days to be saved. We vet them, they have veterinary examination and are issued with health certificates and then transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine.
