My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chestnut came to us when we transferred him & his 3 siblings in from another shelter. His siblings have since been adopted & now it's Chestnut's turn! He is a great combination of fun puppy energy & sweet. He'd be a great addition to any family!

More about this shelter

The GCHS is comprised of an estimated 500 members, dedicated shelter staff, volunteers, board of directors, and a growing network of foster homes. Due to the commitment of these people, the GCHS has gone from a 62% kill rate in 1999 to a NO-KILL status. Our mission includes:
. Promoting compassionate and appropriate treatment of animals throughout Green and Lafayette Counties.
. Realizing the need to educate the general public in areas of animals' care, especially the need for spaying and neutering of animals to prevent further overpopulation.
. Diligently assisting law enforcement and the general public in the effort to end animal abuse.
. Devoted to the search for quality homes for every adoptable animal that comes into the shelter.
GCHS is dedicated to expanding the knowledge of and protection of animals we share our lives and world with.
