Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Moose! This poor girl was e-listed at MCACC after she was surrendered by the only family she ever knew. The incident that got her e-listed involved being startled while sleeping by a young child at a chaotic birthday party and, after having a toy pushed in her face, nipping at the child. There was no major injury to the child, but the parents did not feel safe having her there any longer. This is such an unfortunate circumstance all around since she had been with them since she was a puppy and grown up around children. Moose has shown no aggression at all in her foster home and we truly believe this was a one-off incident, though we will not be adopting her to a home with small kids to ensure this doesn't happen again.
Moose is on the lower energy side for a husky and has adjusted very well to her foster home. She is also a true husky in her love of song, and she will sing you a chorus of woos daily! She is a very affectionate girl who loves affection and treats. She has done well with both large and small dogs and likes a calmer environment where she can relax. On intake at the shelter, she was more submissive and rolled over and presented her belly. She will pseudo-guard toys, semi-snapping at the other dogs when they get near them but then immediately giving kisses to show that she doesn't really mean it. She's shown no other behaviors that are concerning and responds well to verbal correction. She even does well in a crate! Moose is truly such a sweet and loving girl.
Moose is ready to find her forever home! She needs to be in a home without young children, but we think older kids and teens should be fine. Moose is a loving dog who does well with other dogs but would also do well as a single dog in the home. We have not introduced her to cats, so we are not sure how she would do with them. If you feel that Moose would make a perfect addition to your home please fill out our adoption application. Moose looks forward to becoming your new companion!
