My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 01/27/2024) This sweet, cute girl is looking for a happy, loving family with a fun and playful furry sibling! Shy would love a yard with a 4ft+ fence, so she and her 4-legged friend could romp and run and then relax in a spot of sun. Though a fenced yard would be great, it is NOT a 100% requirement for Shy's forever home. If you live in an apartment, condo, or townhome and have plenty of time for a few daily walks (and she is already pretty good on a leash), some good amount of playtime indoors, Shy should be fine.

Shy isn't going to shy away from love, affection and belly rubs. Make sure you have "regularly shceduled" intervals throughout the day to spoil and love her! You, in turn, will be lavished with her sweet devotion.

Shy loves her food and can be a little to eager to dive right in so we recommend a slow-feeder bowl. She is already house and crate trained and would benefit from additional positive reinforcement training. Since she loves kibble and treats, it makes it all that more easy, fun, and enjoyable for all! At her age, she is still a little mouthy and nippy but should be growing out of that and continued redirection until that time is the best way to handle. Give that girl a fun toy, a tough chew, or something else to entertain her bright and young mind and mouth!

Shy is good with all other dogs she has meet, is good with kids, but has not meet any kitties so far. She can be a little shy around some strangers but warms up with love and kindness. Just a little patience is needed and her big smile will soon be shared!

Shy is a happy dog that loves to cuddle. She will come over and sit near you to see if you can hold her. We believe you won't be able to say "no" because she is so sweet and adorable! If you think she is as adorable as we do, then don't hesitate to put in an application today!

As part of Shy’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Shy, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
