My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Barbara came to VHS as a stray/abandoned dog at Evansville Animal Care & Control. We don't know her history or breeds. She is very playful. She wrestles and plays chase with the resident and visiting dogs in her foster home. She loves to play with others. We think Border Collie might be in her genes by how she plays. Maybe Husky in there giving her the beautiful, blue eyes. She has all short shiny coat though. Barbara gave birth to 4 puppies at Animal Control before coming to a VHS foster home. She lived with 2 resident dogs and a frequent visiting dog for the 2 months of raising her puppies. Her puppies are grown now and Barbara loves wrestling with them.

Barbara is housebroken. She loves to chew on the dog toys. She chews on Nyla bones, antlers, and any other toy. She doesn't chew the furniture. She has not been crated in her foster home, but she started off being cotained with her puppies by a 3 ft exercise pen. She is fine with being contained with only a baby gate to keep her in a room when everyone is away from home now that her puppies are independent. She has free-range of the house when people are home, including bedtime.

Barbara loves to cuddle and get belly rubs. She has totally melted into her foster dad from the first day! She leans into him and slides down to the floor on her back for belly rubs. She likes to play fetch with tennis balls. She does better with returning the ball to her foster dad than mom. We love coming across a dog who adores men! She also does great with children. Her foster home has had several gatherings while Barbara and her puppies have been there. She loves everyone. She has been very sharing of her puppies with visiting children from 3yrs old to around 10yrs. Of course, Barbara wants some of that lovin', too.
