My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, my name is Kenzie and I am a pretty Shepherd mix, almost 1-1/2 years old, 42 lbs, and I was SAVED from a neglectful owner who kept me in a very tight crate all day and wasn't feeding me either. I was skin and bones and missing hair when they posted on social media for someone to pick me up or I was going to be put out on the street. This is Texas and sadly this is a familiar story for many dogs. My foster mom saw the post, picked me up, and I was such a grateful girl to be free of my prison, that I rode home sitting on the passenger seat, well-behaved and gentle, and it's been rainbows and sunshine ever since! On my first trip to the vet it turns out my hair loss was due to stress, and now many months later, with regular meals, love, and kindness, I look amazing and feel amazing and I’m ready for a brand new start and a wonderful forever home!

I am a very sweet girl, affectionate, gentle and kind, quiet and unassuming, with a calm and submissive personality. I am shy at first when I meet new people, but warm up nicely when I see you are kind to me. I am great with kitty cats and other dogs, enjoy their company, and enjoy playtime, but prefer another gentle dog like me, if I end up with a live-in doggy friend. I’m excited to go for walks and rides in the car, and just spending time having fun with my family. I’m already housebroken and I’m well-behaved in a home. I rarely bark, don't chew on your things, dig in the yard, or jump the fence. Despite being practically starved, I don't guard my food and I don't even mind being inside a crate when it's large enough for me to move around inside and it's outfitted with my bed and dog toys and water bowl. I don't fear loud noises or thunderstorms and I don't freak out when left home alone. I hear many wonderful families on the East Coast would be happy to have a sweet dog like me, so I can't wait to meet them and get my life started!

* 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
