My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This precious, sweet girl has our hearts. Introducing Mars! She is so affectionate and friendly, she’s great in the car and loves toys! Mars has lots to brag about- from her beauty, her charm, her manners to her obedience skills!

Mars is a pittie mix of some sort, we think there’s some American Staffordshire Terrier in there too. She weighs in around 58 pounds, and she knows that she can still fit in your lap! We estimate her age to be around two years old, but she is a rescue so her exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed.

Meet Mars here: https://youtu.be/DtUOpNWG-Cw?si=nIM0dFn6hv54XU4O

Mars is one of the most affectionate dogs we’ve ever seen. She just oozes sweetness, she knows no stranger, and she’s a total snuggle bug. Give her a couple pets and she’ll lay right in your lap, see for yourself in her video! She lovessss belly rubs so much, and will show you her tummy to ask for them. She’s a kisser too. If you need a little more love in your life- Mars is the girl for you.

Mars is dog-friendly, but she’s a little socially awkward. She greets other dogs with a little apprehension at first, but then it’s on to peacefully coexisting and appreciating the other pup’s company. She’s so trusting of other dogs, and will show her belly with new dogs around. She’s not super playful with the other dogs, but enjoys gently romping around and playing fetch with other dogs. She tolerates pushy players very well! We think Mars would do best in a home with another gentle player, or as a solo-dog. Mars is so people-focused and loving, she would absolutely love to be the sole focus of your attention. When Mars met our house cat Tom, she was a little too interested, so we are recommending her for a home without kitties!

Mars is super smart and treat-motivated, which will make training enjoyable for both of you! She also takes correction from humans very well, she’s a champ with obedience skills. She’s still learning her leash manners, but does great on the leash in familiar environments. Generalizing her leash skills will take treats, soft voices, and a few training sessions, but we have faith that she’ll be an excellent walking companion in no time!! Mars knows “sit,” already, and she’s so eager to please! I just know that Mars will be such a fun dog to train further.

Mars is also a total water dog! She loves to pretend she’s swimming in our little doggy pools here at the rescue, they’re not deep enough for her to actually swim in- but that doesn’t stop her! Mars loves toys too, anything with a squeaker, tennis balls and anything she can shake! She’s a calm player and she shares toys with humans well.

Mars is such a great dog, and a total sweetheart. We think Mars would do well as a family dog, she’s not mouthy or jumpy, and she’s so gentle and friendly. She’s so loving that I know it will be love at first sight when she meets her forever family. Mars would love to be your solo-dog, or doggy siblings with a gentle player. Wherever she lands, we hope she gets plenty of treats, snuggles and kisses. We are willing to test this dog with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
