My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This here lady is Miss Sadie and she wants to be the star of your show! Sadie girl has charmed her foster family in just a few short days, impressing them with her low maintenance style and excellent listening skills. Sadie loves nothing more than to enjoy a couple of walks each day mixed in with lots of naps, maybe a lap cuddle and a willingness to keep you company on whatever household or yard activities are afoot. She is happy to greet everyone she meets, kids and seniors alike but she would prefer to be the only pet at your house as she shows some reactivity to other dogs when out walking. She has however been responding great to being redirected with treats when other dogs are approaching and a firm "No" is all she needs when getting vocal (she can be chatty) - one smart cookie our Sadie!

If Miss Sadie sounds like the companion you are looking for, we welcome your application and meet and greets by appointment as she is currently in foster care.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
