Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Cats, kids House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Occasionally barks Hi, Im Shamrock, a happy-go-lucky pup whos ready to bring a little extra joy to your life! My foster family says Im a great starter dog because Im friendly, playful, and eager to learn. I get along with everyone I meetdogs, people, you name it! My gentle and adaptable personality makes me a great fit for just about any home. Im working hard on my training and learning to be an excellent work-from-home buddy. Im an eager, playful pup whos ready to learn, love, and have fun with my forever family. I recently graduated from Basic Obedience, so I already know commands like sit, stay, down, come, leave it, and offbut Ill need a bit of reinforcement to become a pro. Im housetrained, have great manners with other dogs, and even tolerate cats most of the time. Im super eager to learn and love to show off my progress, especially if treats are involved! My favorite activities include running, zoomies, and playing with my humans. I have medium energy, which means Im up for fun adventures but also love to settle in and relax when the time is right. I get along with everyone, including strangers, and my trainer says Im dog neutral. I love to play and have fun, but I also settle down nicely when its time to relax. Im still young, so I have a few goofy puppy moments, but thats all part of my charm. I'm an active and playful pup with tons of energy and a big heart. My foster mom says I have an incredible nose, and Id love a forever home where I can put it to use on sniffing adventures and maybe even some fun nose-work games. Im great at making friends and have already bonded with my foster dog brother. Playtime is a must for me, and I love romping around, chasing toys, and sniffing everything I can. After a day full of activities, Im more than happy to curl up beside you for some petting and snuggles. Whether youre up for a walk in the neighborhood, meeting new friends at the dog park, or snuggling on the couch after a busy day, Ill be right by your side. I cant wait to meet my forever familymaybe its you? My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Shamrock is his willingness to learn and adapt. He's curious, affectionate, and ready to bond with a family who loves adventure and playtime as much as he does! Likes: Running, sniffing, and exploring new places; Playing with my foster dog sibling; Pets and cuddles after a fun day! My ideal home: Id love a home with a yard and an active family who can keep up with my energetic lifestyle. A dog buddy would be fantastic, as I love having a playmate. While Id do great with someone who works from home, its not a mustIm adaptable, especially when I get plenty of play and exercise throughout the day. Additional adoption info
Adoption area is Washington, D.C area, including Northern Virginia and Maryland. All adoptions require a completed adoption application. Our adoption coordinators will contact you soon after reviewing the application. Our adoption fee is $450 to help off set the costs of rescuing dogs in need. All dogs go to their new homes spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, wormed (although a 2nd worming may be required), started on heart worm and flea and tick preventative and sometimes microchipped.
Although we try to be as accurate as possible, Rural Dog Rescue cannot guarantee the breed or full-grown adult size of any of the dogs or puppies in its care. Because many of these dogs were found as strays or are the result of irresponsible, unplanned breeding, we do not know the dog's exact background and can only list breed and size by our best educated guess. If exact breed and size are important to you, please consider adopting a dog from a specific breed rescue. We want our dogs to be adopted by people who will love and care for them forever for who they are - no matter what breed and size they turn out to be!

More about this rescue
Rural Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save the lives of dogs and cats in high-kill shelters in rural areas with euthanasia rates of 80% or higher.
Mission Statement: Forever true to The Underdog, Rural Dog Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs in shelters who are often overlooked for adoption or rescue. We save the dogs who are at most risk of being euthanized: the hounds, the black dogs, the seniors, the sick and the broken. We make a commitment to reserve a minimum of 50% of the dogs we save to The Underdog. Root For The Underdog!
