The famous T-Rex! T-Rex came to us as an severely injured stray back in March. He was most likely caught in a trap. Due to his injuries, he had to have both front legs amputated above the elbow. He's been in foster with our intake coordinator, and while she absolutely adores him, she has decided that there may be a home with a better set up for him than she can provide. So he is now officially available for adoption!
We are looking for a very special home, for this very special boy. Our Intake Coordinator is happy to take care of him for as long as needed to find the perfect home for him. T-Rex needs a home where he would have access to everything he needs on one floor, he must not have access to large flights of stairs. He could likely manage 1-3 stair flights. Ideally he would be the only pet in the home or just a have a couple of other animals. He gets along with other cats (given time to adjust), but we just want his family to be able to give plenty of focus on him. He would likely adjust to a calm cat friendly dog if needed. However, he would need hiding spots to get away on the floor if needed since he can't escape up high easily.
He has been getting around well without his wheels, but we'll be sending them home with his family so they can give him some supervised wheel time if they'd like. He's been using his litter box like a champ, he just needs a litter box with a low entry point to make it easy for him to get in. He will need to be fed on the ground, no making him jump up on counters to get it. He has been getting up on furniture fine, but we don't want him to have to do those things just to eat or use the litter box.
T-Rex is truly such a sweet, happy boy, and has a ton of love to give! If you think you are the right home please fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt. We will go from there and schedule appointments with potential adopters that have the right set up at home for him.
