My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- West Islip, NY

Allie is an 17 week old Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix and weighs between 15-18 lbs. She is microchipped and up to date on shots, but isn’t spayed or on heartworm prevention. Allie is good with kids and farm animals! She hasn’t been tested around cats or other dogs, but is good with the other dogs inside of the home. She is crate-trained, but isn’t housebroken. The owner rescued them from a puppy mill in Ohio and can’t provide what she needs. She needs to find her furever home as soon as possible!

If you think you can provide a great home for Allie, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Allie.

More about this rescue

Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.

In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 67,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.

Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.

We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
