My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pavel, a boy who has been through more than any dog should, yet his spirit remains strong. Pavel’s journey began when he was found wandering alone as a stray, blind in his only remaining eye and dealing with some hind-end weakness. His fragile state told the story of a life that hadn’t been kind—he arrived with a flea infestation, his skin infected, his body emaciated, and his face and legs covered in cuts and scrapes. He had rotten teeth and an ear infection, clear signs that he had been neglected for far too long.

But despite everything, Pavel’s heart has remained pure, and his will to keep going is nothing short of inspiring. While he may not be the steadiest on his feet, this tough little guy still manages to get around well and enjoys exploring his surroundings at his own pace. Whether it’s a short walk or lounging outside in the sunshine, Pavel shows us daily that he hasn’t given up on the joys of life. He has a curious nature and loves to sniff around, taking in the world in his own special way.

Pavel’s age and condition mean he’s considered a special needs dog, but to those who know him, that just makes him all the more special. He requires a patient and loving home, preferably with someone who has experience caring for senior dogs and understands his unique needs. He thrives with companionship and does best when he’s not left alone for long stretches of time, especially given his blindness. While he enjoys the company of other dogs, he prefers calm, easygoing companions who match his laid-back energy.

At heart, Pavel is a cuddler and a lounger—he’s happiest when he can curl up with his favorite person, enjoying quiet moments of comfort. His gentle, sweet nature makes him a perfect fit for someone who can appreciate the slow, peaceful moments in life.

Pavel’s story is one of resilience, and we believe his best chapters are yet to come. All he needs now is the right home—a place where he can feel safe, loved, and cared for, perhaps for the first time in his life. If you have room in your heart and home for a special soul like Pavel, he’ll reward you with more love than you could imagine. Could you be the one to show him what it means to be truly loved in his golden years? Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
