Things to Know About Abe:
- Abe spent 423 days in a loud Mississippi shelter before getting his freedom ride to TLC. He’s now settling into his foster home and adjusting to his new life.
- Abe is a little skittish but is gradually coming out of his shell and getting more comfortable with his foster's routine. Every day, he's showing a bit more confidence.
- Abe has mainly been with his foster family (husband, wife, a 4-year-old boy, and a 2-year-old girl) and has also met some grandparents and neighborhood kids who occasionally help out. He remains calm and keeps his distance.
- He walks nicely with his foster dad and Fetty at night and does well accompanying the kids to school, even with strollers and scooters.
- Abe is slowly warming up, especially with his foster dad—he's now willing to receive pets. While he's curious about what's going on in the house, he doesn't quite join in yet.
- He does great in his crate—Abe is happy to go in and stays quiet while inside.
- Housebroken
- Dog friendly—He gets along well with the resident dog, Fetty, running alongside him during fetch but tends to follow Fetty's lead and keep his distance otherwise.
- Cat friendly—Sniffed and walked away.
- He’s a sweet and beautiful boy who seems like he'll be a fantastic addition to a patient, loving home. His progress shows that, with time, he’ll grow to trust and connect with his forever family.
- Abe's a lovely pup who will thrive in a home with patience and understanding, allowing him to build trust and confidence over time.

Submit Application

Go to TLCrescuePA.com/adopt to learn about adopting from us & submit an application. You only need to submit 1 application

2.
Interview

We call your vet & landlord (where applicable) and then speak to you & your personal references

3.
Approve Application

If your application is approved, we will send you an email with details about the next steps.

4.
Meet the Pet

You can meet our dogs at a public meet & greet or schedule an appointment with a particular dog you want to adopt

5.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will schedule a private appointment for you to spend time w/ the dog and determine whether it's a good all around fit

6.
Pay Fee

If you decide to adopt you will sign the adoption agreement & pay an adoption fee; we will also review the dog's vet records w/you

7.
Take the Pet Home

Please do not schedule a meeting if you are not prepared to adopt the dog if it's a good fit an take it home from the appointment

When you adopt from TLC, you become a part of our family. We will be there for you with continued support even after adoption.

At TLC, our adoption process is simple and straight-forward. We want you to find a new family member and we want our rescue dogs to find their forever home. There is no cost to apply and we do not require you to put a deposit on a dog to be able to meet a dog. An application does not obligate or limit you to adopting the dog listed on the application.

Applications are carefully considered and processed by our applications team. After submission, an adoption counselor will contact you to conduct an interview where together you will assess your needs and work to find the right match. We speak to veterinary references, landlords and personal references before approving an application.

To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc. (TLC) is a non-profit, all breed, 100% foster-based, no-kill rescue operating in Chester County, PA. Our mission is to rescue and find permanent homes for abandoned, stray and surrendered dogs in order to minimize the needless euthanizing of animals.

We have a passion for saving dogs as well as a thirst to educate the community on reducing the number of dogs needing rescue. From puppies to seniors, there is a perfect dog out there for everyone. We pride ourselves on making the right connection between dog and family in order to give our dogs their final, joyful, loving home. Ultimately, our wish would be for empty shelters so no dog is left behind… until they all have a home.
