Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there! I'm Mellow Yellow, and I am a very social, outgoing cat who loves people. Meeting new humans is no problem; I know this just means more hands for petting, and laps and arms to cuddle in! My foster family says (and I certainly agree) that I "win over hearts with my "friendliness and love for cuddles.
While I prefer to be close to my humans throughout the day, I also love to move, play and take naps to help me reenergize. My favorite toys right now are a stuffed mouse and dangling string toy, and when the laser comes out, I can't resist chasing it around. With my playful nature and love for fun, my foster family even says I'm more "play motivated than food motivated. Playtime really is the best! With all the playfulness on my mind, I do sometimes forget about the scratching post and may need a reminder or two at times. My fun and affectionate personality makes me a perfect fit for so many different households and families, and I would love to join your home!

We have worked hard to make our adoption process as easy as possible. We like to think of the process in four steps: application, phone conversation, meet and greet and adoption day. We will get back to applicants within a few days even if they were not chosen.

All of our animals are in foster homes. To meet an animal please fill out our adoption application and we will get back to you to schedule a meet and greet if it seems it could be a good fit.

More about this rescue
Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.
Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
