Echo is a handsome male German Shepherd around 2.5 years of age. Echo was confiscated due to neglect and found himself recovering from fly bite related hair loss and old injuries in the shelter. Despite this Echo is a kind soul that is looking for a family to call his own.
Echo is still figuring people out and is reserved when first meeting. He can be slow to warm up especially in new places but each new positive interaction helps him get better. Once Echo knows someone they are his bestie and he is basically velcro - he is a love bug! He still gets nervous though and needs someone who will be patient with him when things get scary. Echo will cower if you lift your hand quickly or raise a stick to throw. Echo didn't know how to walk on leash when he arrived at the shelter and was uncomfortable with doors and changes in flooring. It is clear this sweet boy has had a rough past at the hands of humans but he is trying hard to overcome it. Echo has been really sweet with the handful of teens he has met but because quick movement makes him nervous we do not currently recommend Echo for a home with children under 12.
Echo is behind the ball on his dog social manners but is quickly making up for lost time. He was friendly but unsure of other dogs initially and then switched to playing inappropriately and now he is figuring out how to "read the yard". He really enjoys roughhousing and romping with the other young dogs but is also content to wander off with a chew toy and entertain himself. Echo takes a lot of his confidence and cues from other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident, even tempered dog to follow. Echo has not been tested with cats or small dogs at this time.
Echo is a sweet sweet boy who is looking for a family that will give him the TLC he needs to thrive. If you're the home for Echo email us at tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQs
