My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wiley
As you can see in my photos, I am reluctant to give you a big cheesy smile or even look you in the eye. I am an 8-year-old black and white short-haired boy. I lived with my latest owner for one and a half months, but he had to surrender me to HSHC because I gave him allergies. I`ve been somewhat nervous ever since arriving on September 1. I find curling up in my Kitty Kasa to be comforting and snug. When you have been living in different places all your life, it makes you hesitate before sharing your heart. The interviewer lady (IL) checked on me several times and I was always sleeping. But today, I peeped out at her and sniffed her hand. She had tuna for lunch, which was delightful. Then I let her touch my cheek and head. Being petted was pleasurable, even if I was a little worried. Pretty soon, I stood up to leave my Kasa for some more pets, but I changed my mind. I hunkered back down but encouraged her to keep up the petting. I have lived with other cats but never kids or dogs. I know how to use my litterbox, and I`ve been neutered, so I am officially qualified to go home with you. Please let me take my time to get accustomed to your place. 10-22-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
