My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chester, a beautiful 4-year-old Brittany Spaniel weighing 57 pounds, who is looking for his forever home. Chester is fully house-trained and has a heart full of love to give. He thrives as the center of attention, so he would do best in a home with no other animals. Chester is an energetic boy who loves outdoor adventures and is especially fond of water sports. Whether it's swimming in the pool or playing by the lake, Chester will be your perfect companion for all things water-related. If you're looking for a loyal, active, and affectionate dog, Chester is your guy!
Please note that a virtual home check is required as well as a vet check. If you have other dogs, they must be up-to-date on all vaccines and spayed or neutered. The adoption fee for this dog is 350.

Additional adoption info

Thank you for considering the adoption of a rescue. Before you decide to adopt a pet, please consider the effort and funds necessary to properly maintain an animal. Responsible pet ownership requires a commitment to provide care and companionship for the life of the animal. The decision to adopt a pet is an important one. In order to ensure that you and your pet will be happy for years to come, we need to take time to discuss your animal and your individual needs and personality traits. Please take a few moments to carefully read and complete this questionnaire. Please note there are no wrong answers, but honesty is the best answer for all involved. This is to ensure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you and your family.

Please note: Completion of this application does not guarantee adoption. If you do not own your own home - Paws Fur Recovery will need to contact your landlord or HOA to verify that you are allowed to have pets. We will also need to perform an in-person house check to verify that your home is suitable for pets (enough space, fenced in yard, etc). We will need to meet all residents of your home, including any adults, children, pets both inside & out - to make sure your home is suitable for the dog you are seeking to adopt. This is not an exhaustive list of requirements. Every dog's situation is different and every adoption will be handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of a Paws Fur Recovery representative.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate dogs stuck in high kill shelters that are at risk of euthanasia. At the same time we strive to empower our volunteers who are all recovering addicts and alcoholics.

Paws Fur Recovery aims to promote these benefits for our dogs and volunteers:

○ Encourages positive change and a sense of purpose
○ Increases self-esteem.
○ Teaches trust again
○ Promotes responsibility and accountability
○ Decreases anxiety and depression in both the addict and the dog
○ Provides socialization for both the addict and the dog
○ Creates a symbiotic relationship of unconditional love and acceptance

Certain dogs at the shelter have stories that every recovering addict knows all too well: They have been abandoned, alone, afraid, abused, unwanted and misunderstood. They are powerless over their current circumstances and must rely on a power greater than themselves to help them.

We can relate, and we are here to help. We know firsthand about the gift of a second chance. We are passionate about rescuing these forgotten dogs. We help them recover and find their way to homes where they will finally know what it’s like to feel safe and loved.
