Cooper is 6yo, weighs 50lb, is intact, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.  Cooper is alone in the home 6-8 hours per day; he sleeps in his kennel at night; he fears/dislikes storms, fireworks and loud noises; does pretty well in the car once settled; and eats dry sensitive stomach food.  Cooper's guardian adds:  " Cooper is very playful and loves to retrieve lacrosse balls, run, and play outside.  He loves being brushed, petted, and loved on.  He thinks he is a lap dog and wants to be cuddled.  He is dedicated to the people who take care of him."

Cooper's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  "Relocating and cannot take Cooper with us."

Bite incident:  In 2023, Cooper bit his 'cousin dog' while playing; the bite broke the skin; animal control was not involved.  Cooper's guardian explains:

"Outside playing and chasing a lacrosse ball and my sons dog got the ball and cooper went after it and being my sons dog is  smaller cooper was a little more aggressive than usual."

Cooper's guardian offers a brief medical history:   "Just sensitive stomach & anxiety."

Cooper's guardian states the following regarding kids:  Since Cooper hasn't lived with children, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating "Very shy and apprehensive".

Cooper's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Cooper has lived with a dog, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with dogs, stating "Normally pretty standoffish at first around other dogs".

Cooper's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Cooper hasn't lived with nor otherwise been around cats, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats.

Cooper's guardian describes him as:

Shy
Likes to be touched
Fearful
Nervous
House-Trained
Crate-Trained
Likes men
Likes women
Separation anxiety (undiagnosed by vet; used to tear up things in his crate when guardians were gone; now they're home more often and isn't crated as often)

Cooper's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "Adults that have time for walks and play and a yard to run in."

Rehoming Fee:  None

Location:  Davidsonville, MD

More about this rescue

Rescue Well was founded by Christine Sandberg in Baltimore, Maryland in 2011. Since its launch, it’s grown from offering post-adoption support to the city shelter, to offering several programs across Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. Our Programs focus on improving the lives of both pets and its owners. We proudly serve without judgment or expectations and we strictly follow our Rescue Well Engagement Model: ENGAGE > EDUCATE > EMPOWER.

Our organization’s programs are run by volunteers who are actively engaged in front-line intervention, community support, shelter support, and re-homing services for all pets.
