Meet River, a spirited 3-year-old Lab mix with a big personality and even bigger energy! River came to us as a stray, and though she can be a little nervous when meeting new people, she quickly warms up with patience and understanding. Once she feels comfortable, River's affectionate and playful side shines through.
River is a very active dog who would thrive in a home that can keep her busy with plenty of exercise and playtime. Whether it's long walks, runs, or games in the yard, she's always ready for an adventure. However, she has a bit of a mischievous streak-River is known to be an escape artist, so her future home will need a secure yard and vigilant supervision to keep her safe.
While she may bark at things through a fence, River calms down quickly when approached, showing that she's more curious than aggressive. She gets along well with other dogs as long as proper introductions are made, making her a potential playmate for the right canine companion. Her history with cats is unknown, so caution would be needed when introducing her to feline friends.
Because River can be startled by fast movements or too many people reaching for her at once, she would do best in a calm and patient home. She needs a family that understands her sensitivities and is willing to give her the time and space she needs to adjust.
If you are interested in meeting River please stop by our adoption center located at 101 West Swanzey Rd. We are open 11-3 Thursday through Sunday.
