This gentle giant, like the most gentle ever, was rescued from the euthanasia list at BARC. He's approximately 5 years old and best guess is a Rottie/Lab mix? Jack currently weighs about 110lbs, but ideally would be closer to 100. No one can deny him treats when he gives you his signature cute look.
We knew when we rescued Jack that he was heartworm positive and needed hip surgery (FHO). However, after Jack had a few "fainting episodes," we knew there was something else going on. He saw the Cardiologist and sadly has a condition called Reverse PDA. His life expectancy is only 5-7 years and he's already five. He did start taking Sildenafil, which seems to be helping and he has not had any episodes since. However, his condition is terminal.
So now, Jack is looking for a family to love him, to let him sleep on the couch, to give him his belly rubs, and take him on short walks. We keep his exercise to a minimum. You can't tell Jack is sick, he's a happy and super goofy boy, He's a severe leaner, and will push his 110lb body into you and flop right to the floor.
He charms EVERYONE he meets, his personality is special and so loving, he's done well with kids, he's the total package.

All potential adopters will need to fill out an adoption application and talk to a member of the adoption team to ensure the animal is a good fit for the home. We will also check vet references (if applicable), landlord approval (if applicable) and speak with personal references. We do require a home visit and this can be done virtually.
