My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Mona isn't in the CARE foster system. She is listed as a courtesy and CARE isn't responsible for any issues with the cat or the adoption process.

“I've been in a super foster home for a long time and a recent trial adoption provides information that may lead you to decide you NEED me in your life! I would be an excellent companion for someone that doesn't mind a cat that behaves more like a pup! If I'm not busy napping, I enjoy following "my human" around like a puppy, usually without getting underfoot (but advise watching your step just to make sure I haven't decided to nap right beside one of your feet). I love pets and being brushed, but I'm not demanding. I have a couple of favorite toys that keep me occupied for a long time (in my day, 20-30 minutes is "long!"). I'm not a lap cat (but that may be due to lack of opportunity, my foster mom is on the go nearly constantly), but I will nap beside your keyboard or nearby if you're reading or watching TV. I have THE softest fur and keep myself clean and looking bee-utiful without getting hairballs. My foster mom says I should get extra points for being easy to get into a carrier, plus I'm very food motivated and will go anywhere for something tasty! If you have space in your heart and home for little me, let’s make a deal!”

Mona is a very affectionate, well-behaved, low maintenance girl that keeps her areas clean. She uses her litter box dependably, loves to watch birds and squirrels through her glass doors and windows and enjoys long naps as well as any cat. Mona would be the best fit as an only cat (she'd love getting ALL the TLC) or in a home that has at least 3-4 other cats. One-on-one, she wants to be the alpha and that can challenge everyone's happiness. For more information, please call 919-935-3792 or better yet, submit an application and her people will contact your people!

Go meet their pets

CARE is a volunteer-based organization which relies on foster caregivers to provide loving, stable homes to homeless cats and dogs, helping them become the best possible pets for their future forever families. We do not have a brick and mortar facility; our foster pets reside in our volunteers’ homes and become a part of the family until a forever home is found. You can meet many CARE foster pets at CARE adoption events or, after an application is submitted, by agreement with the CARE foster caregiver at a mutually agreed upon place.
