Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Alice is a sweet and affectionate young dog with a heart full of love to give. She was rescued after being found partially submerged in a neighborhood lake, and in the short time her rescuer had her, Alice showed remarkable qualities. She appears to be potty trained, enjoys playing with toys, walks well on a leash, and loves being kissed. At night, she sleeps soundly, making her an ideal companion. Although she was initially shy and frightened in the shelter, Alice quickly warmed up in quiet settings. In more active environments, she can get a bit excited, occasionally nipping at shoes and ankles, so we recommend a home with children over 12. Alice craves attention, love, and cuddles—could you be the one to give her the forever home she deserves?

Interview

All pet adoptions require an interview with an AAR adoption team member before the application is approved.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

If the application is approved, the adopter signs the contract and pays the adoption fee.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Potential cat adopters: please bring a cat carrier to the interview.

Additional adoption info

To adopt a pet from AAR, potential adopters must fill out AAR's adoption application and interview with an adoption team member. If approved, an adoption agreement is signed and fees paid.

Adoption Fees:
Dogs/puppies 6 months of age and older $175
Puppies under 6 months of age $200
Cats $50.00
Kittens $75.00
The fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and all adoptable animals are current on vaccinations and worming.

Cat and Dog Adoption Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m and Sunday from 11am - 3pm

Abandoned Animal Rescue is a no-kill dog / cat shelter located in Magnolia serving Northwest Harris and Southern Montgomery Counties in Texas. It is staffed by dedicated volunteers devoted to saving the lives of homeless and unwanted companion animals.

AAR's mission is to work towards ending pet overpopulation that results in the euthanasia of unwanted cats and dogs. We do this by providing a rescue and adoption center, by emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering and by educating on humane animal ownership. AAR is committed to the emotional, physical, and behavioral well being of each animal in our care.

All animals surrendered to the shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and wormed; dogs are tested for heartworms and, if positive, are treated.

All operating money for AAR comes from
clinic and adoption fees, donations, and fundraisers. AAR receives no government money.
