My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cabbage, a little dog with a big story. When he first came to us, it was clear he hadn’t had an easy life. As a stray, Cabbage ended up at a local shelter where he was scared and unsure of the world around him. His fear made him reactive, so they reached out to us to take him in and find him the home he deserves. We could see there was more to him than just his tough exterior, and we were right!

Now, Cabbage does have his quirks—he can be possessive with his toys and food, and he’ll need a home without children, where he can feel secure. He’s not an easy dog, and it will take time, patience, and understanding to help him feel truly safe. But if you’re willing to put in the work, you’ll see that beneath the uncertainty is a sweet, loyal companion just waiting for someone to show him kindness.

It may take some time to earn his trust, but once you do, Cabbage will melt your heart. He loves to cuddle and play and will follow his person around like a little shadow. He loves hard, and with the right support, we know he'll be the best companion ever! He does well with other dogs and isn't an excessive barker. He's also great on leash and of course he's downright adorable. We don’t know much about his past, but we know he’s ready for a brighter future—a second chance with someone who sees his potential. If you believe in giving dogs like Cabbage the love and patience they deserve, he could be the one for you. Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
