For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
A little about me - I was born as a free roaming dog in Hawaii, and most likely was not in the care of people until I was several months old. Because I did not socialize with people too often during my early months of life, meeting new people can be daunting for me. With patience and support from my foster parents, I have become more confident as time goes on, but I may always be nervous meeting new people in my home. Therefore, I'll need a very quiet home with experienced caregivers (and no busy kids running around), that way I can feel safe in my space. I am very social with other dogs, and I gain confidence from having a dog buddy, so I will need to go to a home that has a friendly and social dog to help me come out of my shell! I have a big heart and a tranquil nature that will make for a very loyal and loving companion to the right person. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 31.6 Age: 0yrs 11mths 0wks

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS
* Be 18 years of age or older.
* Have valid state-issued identification.
* Allowed to have a pet where you live. (To protect you and your pet, get your landlord's or HOA's permission in writing before you adopt).
* Willing and able to provide training, medical attention, and proper care for your new pet.
ADOPTION PROCESS
Berkeley Humane believes in an adoption process that carefully matches the lifestyle and expectations of adopters with the needs of each animal. This helps pets remain in their new homes for the rest of their lives.
Our staff will ask potential adopters about their lifestyle, household, and what they're looking for, in order to suggest appropriate pets or determine a specific animal's suitability.
All of our animals receive medical and behavior evaluations, vaccines, microchip, spay or neuter, felv/fit test for cats (at the discretion of the veterinarian), heartworm preventative, flea and tick preventative, and worm treatment.
Our adoption package also includes pre-adoption counseling, a take-home adoption packet, temporary collar, ID tag, temporary leash or carrier, free post-adoption resources and advice, $250 worth of medical care with VCA veterinary hospitals, a certificate for a free examination at a local veterinary hospital, and discounted pet insurance offer.
