My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Newt, a friendly yet sometimes shy kitten with a heart full of love! Found outside and initially very unsure of humans, Newt has blossomed into a loving and affectionate boy who will happily sit on your lap once he feels comfortable. He is still a bit shy around new people, so he's looking for a patient home where he can adjust at his own pace.

Newt was found alongside Fraser, and the two quickly formed a strong bond once they were reintroduced. They'd love to find a forever home where they can stay together and continue to support each other. If you have the patience and love to help Newt and Fraser feel at home, they could be the perfect addition to your family!

Do you think you could be Newt's person? Here are some ways to find out:

1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or

2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
