It seems Donna has experienced some tougher times in her two years on the planet, and she is now looking for a new home that will show her lots of love and a softer life. Donna has had at least two litters of puppies and she needs to put weight on her small 41-pound frame. Although she is being well cared for at the center, nothing beats a soft bed in a quiet spot, toys, treats, and lots of attention to get her back to her ideal weight. Donna is so sweet and gentle, and she also takes her treats gently. Donna is understandably a little unsure of going on walks, but as she gets used to the leash and to her surroundings, we are confident she will quickly become more comfortable.
Donna looks so sweet and demure in her kennel, but she came to life in the presence of the other dogs. She is eager to play, but she does exhibit some dominant behaviors and seemed to want to be the boss of the play yard. Some dogs would find this offensive, so she would be best with a confident tolerant male player.
Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $400 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment.
If you're interested in learning more about her, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Donna 252869".
She is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be spayed prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: Black Weight: 41 Age: 2yrs 1mths 3wks
