My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing the gorgeous, fun, and devoted, Greta Dawn!

This beautiful girl captures attention everywhere she goes. People are captivated by her mesmerizing eyes and her cheerful spirit. But she is also so much more than mere good looks. This girl is smart, loving, devoted, and happy!

The benefits of adopting an adult dog are that you already know their personality, and most importantly, they are already potty trained! Greta has not had any potty accidents in her foster home, she is crate trained, and she knows a few basic commands (“sit,” “touch,” “leave-it,” and “no”). She is food motivated, listens really well, and aims to please, so she is going to be very easy to train.

Greta loves her humans like no other, and is incredibly loyal and devoted. For this reason, it’s important that we match her with a family that is not going to let her down or abandon her. If you aren’t committed to this girl, like she will be to you, then she’s not the girl for you. She will give you all of her love and just wants to be there for you, whenever you need her. She is going to make a truly amazing family member and best friend.

Greta is such a fun and happy girl. She will need daily exercise and a yard to do zoomies, but after a good exercise she will cuddle up with you on the couch and take a nap. She enjoys a little game of fetch, but will get bored with it after a few minutes. She knows how to keep herself entertained, though, as long as she has some toys and a bone to chew on. Her favorite toy is a stuffed lamb. I bet she would love to go on hikes!

Greta loves other dogs, but can sometimes come-on a little strong. She will do best with other confident, tolerant dogs who love to play. She may need some breaks as she’s getting used to a new playmate. She currently lives with three dogs that are about 10 lbs each, but they don’t like other dogs, so she respects their space. She gets regular playtime with other dogs, though.

Greta used to live with two cats in her previous foster home and mostly just ignored them. She would chase them if they ran, but she is not aggressive and doesn’t mind if they swat her. She would do best with dog-savvy cats if she has any cat-siblings. Greta will do best in a home without kids as she is a herder.

Greta doesn’t pull much on leash and enjoys walks, but she can be a little wary of new people approaching her on walks. She just needs a moment and some assurance from her human, and then she’s ready for pets from the new person.

Greta is sensitive to corrections and only needs to hear a firm “no” without any increase in volume. If she feels she’s done something wrong she will cower and run away from you, or sheepishly grin and cower, to apologize. She is just so incredibly sweet and wants to be loved and cared for more than anything in the world.

While Greta doesn’t love getting in and out of the car, she will ride easily once she’s in and moving. Same with her crate; she doesn’t like getting into it, but she will sleep in it all night without making a peep. This girl is truly something special and is going to make her new family so happy. She has unlimited potential.

*WE ARE TOLD THAT WE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND MEDICALLY. This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health.
*To fully vet a dog in the PNW at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs.

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program, prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives. They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

Three Little Pitties Rescue just celebrated our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 11,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be brought into our rescue program. Together, we can be heroes.
