My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Margarita, the little Chihuahua mix with just a splash of shyness...she warms up quicker than your favorite drink on a sunny day! Once she's in her groove, she's all about dishing out kisses and running the show. Margarita's on the hunt for a forever home where she can be the life of the party...bonus points if there's a doggie friend to share in her antics! A fenced backyard? Oh, for sure...Margarita loves to zoom around like she's chasing limes for more margaritas! Ready to shake things up with this little cutie? She's ready to bring the fun, love, and a whole lot of laughs! Meet her at our Cove Lifesaving Center.

More about this rescue

A New Leash on Life has a goal of saving all the adoptable pets about to die in the municipal shelters of Alabama until we become a NO KILL state. We rescue, provide veterinary care, provide a foster home or adoption center spot, and find adopters who are good matches for homeless dogs and cats...AND horses, pigs, rabbits, and any other animal who needs our help. All animals are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, testing (HW for dogs, FIV/Felv for cats), and whatever else they need before adoption.
