My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the sweet and adorable Harper. She is a 1 year old Lab mix who weighs about 25lbs. Harper is a pretty chill girl but also know how to have fun. She loves to play and would enjoy having a family who will take her for walks. Harper is very loving and would make a great family dog. Harper can be cat tested upon request. Apply to meet Harper today and give her the loving home she deserves.

If you are not located near our rescue or if the drive is a problem for you, please still apply, as we bring animals out to as far as San Diego in order for bring them to their forever homes. If an animal is posted, they are VERY likely available. Please fill out an adoption application to get the best chance at being considered rather than contacting directly.

If you are interested in adopting & think you can provide a great home for this pet, please complete an online application so that we can better assess if this pet is a good match for you & your family. Once that is complete & we've approved your application, we can set up a time for you to meet your potential companion for life!!

Go meet their pets

Some adoptable pets can be found at our shelter in Rowland Heights, California. Our address is 19142 E Walnut Dr N. Others are fostered in home environments throughout California. Visiting pets are by appointment and only after an application has been filled out. We are willing to drive or meet between locations, even if it means a 2 1/2 hour drive. Our main goal is to find our animals the best possible forever home.

More about this rescue

Volunteers in Defense of Animals (VIDA) is a 501c3 and consists of a small group of volunteers and a network of foster homes. We help find homes for homeless dogs and cats, care and protect neglected and abused animals. We are working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.
